Welcome
In November 2007 the Pierce County Council adopted a new revised alarm
ordinance and program that became effective on January 1, 2008.
In 2007, the Pierce County Sheriff's department responded to over
8,000 false alarm calls. False alarms cost the county and its citizens
thousands of dollars per year and take deputies away from actual emergencies.
The ordinance also creates a registration process, provides for annual alarm
registration fees for residential and business alarms, and provides for
fees for false alarms to encourage all alarm users to maintain the reliability
of and to properly use their alarm equipment.
