Welcome
In May of 2008 the Suffolk City Council adopted a new revised alarm
ordinance and program that became effective on July 1, 2008.
In 2007, the Suffolk Police Department responded to over 5,300 false alarm
calls. False alarms cost the city and its citizens thousands of dollars
per year and take officers away from actual emergencies. The ordinance also
creates a registration process, provides for annual alarm
registration fees for residential and business alarms, and provides for
fees for false alarms to encourage all alarm users to maintain the reliability
of and to properly use their alarm equipment.
